Sunday, October 30th: The 13th Annual Great PUPkin Dog Costume Contest

The 13th Annual Great PUPkin
Fort Greene Park, Brooklyn
11:30 registration, noon start
$5 suggested donation

Due to a 90% forecast of rain and snow on Saturday, the 13th Annual Great PUPkin Dog Costume Contest will move to the rain date of Sunday, October 30. The contest will take place once again on the historic Fort Greene Park monument stairs. Registration begins on the monument plaza at 11:30; the contest starts at noon sharp.

As usual, the Great PUPkin will be held in conjunction with the Fort Greene Park Conservancy’s annual Halloween Festival, which has also moved to Sunday, October 30.

Prizes have been generously donated from Brooklyn Veterinary Hospital, Thirst Wine Merchants, Green Pets, Who’s Your Doggy Premium Pet Foods, Theatermania, ABC Pet Supply, Brooklyn Pup Dog Training, Bittersweet Coffee, Square Root Cafe, Brooklyn Cares Veterinary Clinic, Brooklyn Bark, Green in BKLYN, and Chez Oskar, with more prizes to be announced. Beautiful custom rosettes will be awarded to the top eight contestants. Our 2011 judging panel includes neighborhood legend Janna Hyten Kennedy (313 Halloween), designer Elizabeth Amorose (Thinkso), and celebrity stylist Elizabeth Serwin.

During the PUPkin, Brooklyn Bark will be setting up a booth on the plaza to raise money for two animal rehab centers, Wild Bird Fund and Sean Casey Animal Rescue. And they will also be giving goody bags to the first 100 registrants.

Suggested donation is $5.00 per dog, but any dog can enter with or without a donation. Come one, come all, and bring your game!
