Saturday, September 24th: Moving Planet Dance Ride

Moving Planet Dance Ride
Circular plaza in the center of Tompkins Sq. Park, Manhattan
12:45pm
Free

Grab your bike or skates and join the Heelz on Wheelz bike dancers for a dance ride to the United Nations’ Dag Hammarskjold Plaza (47th street between 1st and 2nd Avenues). Converging at the Plaza with dozens of other rides and marches, we will participate in a worldwide rally to move beyond fossil fuels. On Saturday, people in over 100 countries will take to the streets on bicycles, roller skates, skateboards, on foot and on any other sustainable form of transit they can dream up. We will demonstrate to our governments that a global consensus has formed: we are ready to move beyond fossil fuels.

The UN General Assembly will be in session during the weeks before and after the event, offering us the perfect opportunity to demand government action from world leaders. The Moving Planet rally will feature prominent national and international speakers including climate scientist James Hansen, Vice President Hassan of the Maldives, and a delegation of indigenous leaders from around the world.
