The Northside Festival is less than a fortnight away, and boy are we excited. And from the looks of ticket sales, you guys are too–early bird-badges are sold out, and advanced badges are selling going just as fast. But we wanna let you in on a little secret—you can hang out with us at the Northside Festival–with your very own badge– for freesies. Just become a volunteer! Each volunteer gets a free badge ($70 value) in exchange for three four-hour shifts of work throughout the four days of the festival. Volunteers will be needed June 15, 16, 17, 18 & 19.
What’s Northside and Why Should I Volunteer?
Northside is a four-day festival that takes over venues, studios, and the streets of Williamsburg and Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This year has four components; music, film, art, and ideas. Mainly, volunteers are responsible for managing the door at every show to make sure that the proper number of badgeholders is allowed inside each venue, but trust us when we say there are about a gazillion other positions available. If you’re into art, come help out at Northside Open Studios. If the cinema is more your thing, we’d love to see you at our Film Festival at indieScreen (did we mention Rosie Perez will be there?). Volunteers can also be in charge of helping out at Northside headquarters, building giftbags, and stocking green rooms for bands. Oh, volunteering also guarantees that you’ll have an awesome time at the festival and be part of something amazing. Guaranteed!
Some volunteers from past festivals have cultivated relationships with us and gone on to be L Mag interns, writers, and collaborators with us on other events. We want to open the same doors for you!
What does a Badge Get Me?
Your badge will grant you access on a first-come, first-served basis to every show taking place during the festival, in addition to all Northside ideas, art and film events. You’ll also be able to walk into tons of local bars and restaurants that will be offering discounts to badge holders on food and booze.
How do I Sign Up?
Please send an email with your name, age, dates and times you’d be available (if you don’t know that’s just fine) and what aspect of the festival you’re interested in helping out with to email@example.com. We will review your application, and get back to you regarding the dates of our orientation sessions.
Please let us know if you’ve volunteered with us before. Veterans are always welcome!
