Friday, May 6th: Hunter Island Botanical Walk

Hunter Island Botanical Walk
Pelham Bay Park, NE corner of the Orchard Beach parking lot (far left corner from entry booth)
10am-noon
Free, register here

Hunter Island in Pelham Bay Park is home to giant oak and tulip trees that may predate the American Revolution. It also supports one of the richest concentrations of native, rare plants in the city. There will be abundant spring wildflowers such as wood-betony (Pedicularis canadensis), early meadow rue (Thalictrum dioicum) and emerging ferns and flowering dogwood trees (Cornus florida). We’ll walk the Kazimiroff Trail to see these floristic displays.

Part of NYC Wildflower Week.
