Touch the Earth Party
237 Lafayette St., Apt. 10W, Manhattan
Starts at $10, RSVP requested: email@example.com
Come join the IDP Community as we celebrate Earth Day 2011. The party will mark the close of our “Building Bridges” capital campaign which to date has raised half of our goal of $90,000. We will also be celebrating all of the diverse ways in which the IDP community has brought the insights developed on the meditation cushion out into the world through activism projects, arts workshops and online media—and, of course, there will be dancing into the night.
Schedule for the evening:
Spring Food Bar and Live Jazz from Baby Soda from 7 til 8 pm (finger food and drinks thereafter). More from Baby Soda available here: http://www.myspace.com/babysodaband
Presentation from 8 til 8:45 pm
Dancing from 8:45 til 10:30 pm
We are going to be adding the finishing touches to our decorations for the night at the very start of the party. We are asking folks to contribute a seasonal plant to our Plant Swap to help make the place look nice for the party, and to offer a parting gift to someone else in the community at the end of the night. Everyone who brings a plant to the space by 6:30 pm will be given a ticket to pick out a plant of their choice at the end of the evening. We are looking to have herbs, spices and other local seasonal plants as decorations.
If you are interested in participating in the plant swap, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are offering a reduced admission rate for folks who are able to offer food to share at the party. We’re going to offer the nourishment at the party as a contemplation of Interdependence: How the food we bring affects our bodies, minds, ecological and politcal systems. You participation helps to lower the cost of the party for the IDP, and your mindful engagement in the nourishment of the community is a great way to offer thanks for the support we all give each other.
