Anna May Wong (1905-1961) was a premier Chinese American film star and stage actress who achieved worldwide fame and popularity in the 1920s and the 1930s. The documentary unfolds her experiences as an ambitious Chinese American woman in the public eye. It also shows Anna through my eyes and those of other Asian Americans.

Anna May Wong: In Her Own Words is a documentary about how a Chinese laundryman’s daughter became an international star, a member of high society, an activist and an artist despite the racism and sexism of the day.

The film is one hour long and will be followed by a discussion about Anna May Wong’s legacy.
