Fall in love with Jonathan Miller’s inventive take on Donizetti’s beloved classic, which relocates the action to the 1950s American Southwest to tell the tale of a shy young man’s quest to win the object of his affection.

This romantic comedy features exciting young voices performing some of opera’s most recognizable melodies, including the popular bel canto aria “Una furtive lagrima.” Soprano Stefania Dovhan, who earned rave reviews in last season’s smash hit production of Don Giovanni, returns as the heart’s desire of the underdog suitor, sung by rising Mexican tenor David Lomeli in his City Opera debut.
