Fire in the Snow

Come chase out those winter blues with a little movie screening in the snow. We’ll have two fires going in my backyard – big fires. We’ll be drinking hot toddies to numb the cold. We’re also making sausages, dumplings, and a vegan stew.
This is a DIY, zero budget, community screening of Werner Herzog’s Encounters at the End of the World, the fantastic story of the famous meglomaniac filmmaker’s trip to Antarctica where he tells tales of travelers who’ve fallen off the edge of the world and landed at the bottom, professional dreamers, and deranged penguins.
It’s also an experiment in radical potlucking – this is the darkest, coldest time of the year, and sometimes nothing feels better than huddling together with others for warmth against the blackness. We’re kind of hoping for bad weather. Please bring warmth to share: food, drink, firewood, hand warmers, electric blankets, camp stoves, extra snow pants.
Dress warmly, preferably waterproof. You are responsible for your own body. Event may be canceled if weather is really extreme – RSVP for up-to-the-minute updates.
